Sun Tech Days returns to South Africa in March

“With over 56,000 Java developers in South Africa, it is evident that our local developer community is interested in Sun technologies and further developing their expertise.  As Sun celebrates its 25th anniversary, the company’s maxim:  ‘The Network Is The Computer’ has never been truer than it is today,” says Claire Alexander, marketing manager, Sun Microsystems Sub Saharan Africa.

Sun Tech Days content includes detailed technical information, hands-on training, demonstrations and examples of real-world solutions.  Topics that have already been identified as relevant for the local market include Java, Solaris, NetBeans, OpenSolaris, Development tools and Web 2.0.

Running over two days, the conference includes a series of keynotes, technical sessions, code camps, demos and Hands On Labs (HOLs). The Sun keynote speaker for South Africa this year is Jeff Jackson, Sun's Vice President for engineering, managing the Solaris operating systems, clustering, database and storage software.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to network with global and local Sun partners in the Partner Pavilion.   The two global sponsors this year are AMD and Intel.

“Sun Tech Days provides developers with practical, ‘how to’ information on technical topics that will help developers to immediately be more productive,” says Alexander.  “The programme will also include several advanced development topics to ensure that our local developers have an opportunity to engage with key experts and gain much benefit from the conference. We want to give developers a better understanding of Sun's technologies, solutions, products and the roadmaps that drive their innovation.”

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Sun Tech Days worldwide developer conference programme has reached more than 150, 000 developers across six continents. Registration is now live at www.suntechdays.co.za
